My fault. The beta ISO ships with 2.6.17-10-generic yet LTSP builds
with 2.6.17-10-386 and couldn't find the necessary USB modules. apt-get
update the LTSP server, manually select the 386 kernel and things work
correctly.
Wacom USB works, tablet functionality requires dexconf changes and
install
I start from a clean LTSP client and install wacom-tools and no
/dev/input/wacom is created, therefore I presume the apt-get of xserver-
xorg-input-wacom killed the USB functionality as originally reported.
Issue now is Wacom tablet support doesn't work at all.
