until I tried to initiate a fbook chat, and now back to crashing upon
startup.

What worked for me was starting pidgin with no-login (pidgin -n), adding
another account (MSN/ICQ/etc), then re-enabling facebook plugin.
Maybe fbook plugin doesn't do some necessary first run inits? I was only
getting the error message when I built pidgin fresh, then built fbook
plugin, and ran f
