I am using Dapper Drake on amd64 ith a fully updated amarok, and I have
libxine-extracodecs installed. I get the same error message as Jared
Sutton, that is
Error Loading Media
There is no audio channel!

I confirmed this is no longer a problem in Edgy. However, I installed
(actually re-installed) the libxine-extracodecs package on my Dapper
box, and I'm now getting this slightly different error:
Error Loading Media
There is no audio channel!
Brandon, were you testing Dapper or Edgy?

all you need to do to play *.flac files in edgy ( or dapper ) is " sudo
apt-get install libxine-extracodecs " ( restart amarok after this is
installed )
I confirmed this with a fresh install and a test .flac file obtained
from http://ff123.net/samples/BigYellow.flac

Here are the distinguishing factors:
1. This has a different error message than the other bug.
2. The other bug says that amarok can't play other (non-flac) audio files after
