I'm using Toshiba Dynabook SS20 which is almost the same as portege
R200. I was having the exactly same error after suspend/resume.
Fatal server error:
lockup
After some research, I tried the following and now resuming works
perfectly.
EDIT /etc/default/acpi-support:
-- SAVE_VBE_STATE=true
++ SA

On some further research, this seems to be an xorg bug. I'll attach the
contents of my /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old, which I presume to be the log
file for the failed resume-from-suspend.
