To get around this comment out the modprobes in the /etc/init.d/xend
init script.

No, this is a recent change which will be matched by the corresponding
change in xen-3.0 (userspace). The xen modules that the xend initscript
load are now built into the xen kernels. Currently the dom0 kernels can
be used for both dom0 & domU
