I agree as well. Gaim is capable of doing IRC, but it's very poor at best and highly lacking in features. Xchat, Xchat-Gnome, irssi and/or BitchX should be considered. Mainly Xchat and irssi since these are the two most popular IRC clients out there today. As mentioned for a server install, sin

I agree gaim should not be default in install due to a few reasons irssi is alot lighter than gaim xchat is about the same size as gaim if not lighter. most people that i talk to use xchat or irssi. gaim is normally used for other clients other than irc and we dont have support channels on anywhere
