Michael have you tried to reproduce this issue using latest release of
gwibber included in daily ppa repository? I am still not able to
reproduce it here.

I do not have duplicate account entries. I've now got 2.31.92 installed
from the guido-iodice ppa, and it's still doing it. I've also got the
same problem on my laptop running fedora, so I should probably file
upstream.

uhm not reproducible here with Ubuntu Maverick and 2.31.91-0ubuntu2,
have you checked if in accounts menu has duplicates entries? if you try
to resend another message is still occuring, for twitter and identi.ca
accounts?
