pablohoffman has right, it's not the real message the cpuindex!
For me the real one was:
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7, 0x3f6 on irq14
Also the update-initramfs fixes the problem also for me, but don't know
why the one created wasn't valid.

had the same problem. it seemed an acpi problem at first, but it turned
out it was related to my hard drive not being properly detected. if you
remove "quiet splash" from the kernel boot options (in grub) you will
see that the last kernel message is "Waiting for root filesystem..."
instead of "gett

Hello,
I have the same problem with an amd64 socket 939.
The motherboard is an asrock dual vista.
The message is "[17.330722] ACPI: getting cpuindex for acpiid 0x2.
When I start boot with -acpi=off, the problem is still the same but the
error message doesn't appear.
Thanks for support.

I've got the same problem - with different number:
"getting cpuindex for acpiid 0x01"
Message comes up on a black screen at boot time, and there is a long
delay before the PC successfully boots.
Clean install of Edgy beta.
AMD64 processor (single core), Gigabyte motherboard with NVidia 430
chip
Forgot to say - this is the AMD64 build that I'm using.
