fglrx is not directly related to xorg, but to the closed source ATI's
binary driver, a kernel module of which is in linux-restricted-modules.
There's no direct rendering with the open source drivers because AMD/ATI
has not published the needed information for that to be written.

Try doing 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg' and answer the questions in the
menu as they apply to you. When it asks which display driver to use, select
fglrx. Once you're done, reboot and test.
If everything works, the command 'fglrxinfo' should list strings about ATI,
