I think it is a problem with cryptsetup. I have a setup where a
partition on my harddrive is encrypted with a key. This key is saved in
a file, and encrypted with openssl.
I have this on two laptops, so when the first laptop was reinstalled
with Edgy,

this is a problem with my edgy too.
in dapper, i had a crypted partition called crypt, and whenever gnome
loaded up it would ask me for the password. the dialogue doesn't come up
any more.
is this a problem with pam-mount instead?

I have just installed Ubuntu Edgy, and can't get any of my encrypted
filesystem to work. Not even if I try to mount them manually with
cryptsetup.

I can confirm this bug. I have my /home in crypttab too. It seems to be
an interaction problem with upstart, since ditching upstart and going
back to normal sysvinit solves the problem. If you use upstart, you need
to run "/etc/init.d/cryptdisks restart" as root (since /home isn't
there) every time
