Mostly Yes. Sometimes "Closing splash screen" appears but usually not. I
can't find any rule in this behavior.

I can confirm the bug. This bug showed up just after upgrade where
"technical" splash where substituted with final one. I'm using vesafb
and ati drivers in X.
