I tried to do the check. Unfortunately my GSM card is not recognised in
Ubuntu 10.10. Most likely this is due to the bug 625110 which is
mentioned also in the list of "known issues" for the beta release. They

I was not notified about the incorrect PIN after any of my trials: 1st
one, 2nd one, 3rd one. I do not remember if I really tried also a 4th
attempt but very likely yes. Every time the same behaviour: the network
icon with the red crossing line indicating disconnected status.
