This is on the Live CD yes? Before you reboot into the installed
system.
Can you recall the exact "restart the computer" sequence you followed?

Weird, I just had the same problem -- calling "reboot -d -f -i" at the
shell worked fine and the last line printed just before was "Will now
restart the system"
