For raring, im-config will be default and language-selector has been
ported to use it, so I guess this bug can be closed now.

weird problems. Further more, im-switch is not maintained upstream
(which is Debian),
im-switch is back as a dependency of ubuntu-desktop and language-
selector, and still does not speak languages. Its supposed replacement
im-config would need a newer package version that has gettext support
and inclusion in main.

As far as I know, the author of im-switch is writing new im-config,
and will perhaps replace im-switch in the near future.
