changing from gdm to xserver-xorg-video-intel. sorry, i don't really
know what package to use. so please update if I did set it to the wrong
package.

Oh wait, I don't think it's a gdm issue. It has lxdm originally
installed (Lubuntu), and I've also tried slim but with the same result.
I'm not entirely sure, but I'm changing the package to xorg
