Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdebi
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with gdebi 0.6.0ubuntu1.

This bug appears to have been reported for Ubuntu 9.04, but was closed
and hasn't been taken care of. When installing a package with gdebi-
gtk, there is an option to check "Automatically close after the changes
have been successfully applied". This works just fine and closes the
progress dialog when the installation has finished. But, once gdebi is
closed this setting is reset. So the next time a package needs to be
installed, the option has to be checked again. This option should
remain checked for future uses of gdebi.
