3.5 would still be beneficial in the repositories regardless of 3.6 for
developers whilst the kinks are worked out on 3.6
For example see http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html where
ADT is not yet working on 3.6 and google advise devs to remain on 3.5
for the time being

If you offer to fix a compiling error, we can try to get Eclipse 3.6
into maverick. Please talk to bdrung and nthykier in IRC channel
#debian-java on OTFC if you have ant knowledge and like digging through
big build logs.

Testng was changed to the 'fix committed' state on the 15th July and
version 5.11+dfsg-1 appears in Maverick Universe. However the last
attempted build date of libhamcrest-java on the 27th showed the testng
package as missing still... and this is the blocker on the eclipse
package being built...

libhamcrest-java is architecture independent. It will be build on i386
for all architectures.

marked as fix committed. Is there something else that needs to be

A newer version of eclipse (3.5.2-5) was uploaded, which fixes this bug.
This version requires libhamcrest-java 1.1-8, which is blocked by bug
#600626. Once bug #600626 is fixed, you will be able to install eclipse
again.
