I could not boot from either the Generic or the Recovery mode following
your instructions, as indicated in my reply to you on 06/15/2010. Then
I tried removing the Grub entry vga=799. The machine still would not
boot from Generic, but did boot from the Reco
Leo, when I followed your instructions the screen stayed black until 5
line segments of compressed video very briefly appeared at the top of
the screen. They were only a pencil line thick, not a full line. Then
the screen went completely black, and there was no further HD activity.
