It seems you may have been having some hardware problems. The kernel
complains of seek errors:

Hi Matt, it's been a long time since it happened, and I've since sucessfully
installed Edgy on other machines.
The crash happened as the installer was copying files into the formatted
partition.
I was installing 6.10
