I'm happy to present working solution for integrated Intel HD Graphics
(GMA HD) running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:
1. Install new versions of libdrm*, lib*mesa* and xserver-xorg-video-intel
packages from ppa:ubuntu-fi or ppa:baltix (see
https://launchpad.net/~baltix/+archive ) repository
2. Install new
I've found latest xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2:2.14.0 for Ubuntu 10.04
(Lucid) at ppa:ubuntu-fi repository, look at:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-fi/+archive/ppa
Maybe integrated Intel graphics GMA HD will work with new libdri, mesa
and xserver-xorg-video-intel packages from ppa:ubuntu-fi

I can add more info, seems my problem is related to dual graphics, I
have an integrated intel card and a ati card and I cannot switch off
thru the BIOS.
So I have:
[ 16.193573] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 170x48
[ 16.197882] fb0: radeondrmfb frame buffer device
[ 16.278
I have te same problem, I cannot switch to text mode.
dmesg | grep intel
[1.411408] intel_idle: MWAIT substates: 0x1120
[1.411409] intel_idle: v0.4 model 0x25
[1.411411] intel_idle: lapic_timer_reliable_states 0x
[1.414538] ACPI: acpi_idle yielding to intel_idle
[ 14.364
Have the same problem, plus whenever I try to use an external monitor,
it refuses to display correctly, I get all sorts of wavy lines, like the
refresh rate is off. I tested the card in windows, and it displays
correctly, so the hardware is definitely functioning correctly.

Hi, i am relatively new in Ubuntu, and I got a brand new machine, Lenovo
core i5. I want to replace fully Windows 7 but it has been a headache to
install Ubuntu due to this issue. Although I am running right now
Ubuntu, the video resolution is poor.
I experience this problem on a Lenovo v360-0911B
I am still experiencing this problem unable to get X to run without
passing i915.modeset=0 and using the vesa driver. Intel driver won't run
regardless of what I do. Running maverick with latest packages on an HP
TM2 with core i3/Intel HD graphics.
It doesn't look like xserver-xorg-video-intel
It now also works for me (HP Elitebook 8440p). I still had an xorg.conf
file on my system because a few months ago I had to set the parameters
manually because the xorg driver did not work back then.
Since multiple people now confirm it as working I close this bug with
fix released
** Changed in:
It seems working to me as well in lenovo 201 laptop, except a bit
strange dual monitor behavior when internal and external ones size are
different.
