tim, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release

couple kernel patches), I'm guessing this is actually a kernel drm bug.

Pretty sure that's how gnome-terminal is configured to work by default
now. Just change the profile background to solid.
Anyway, that's not a driver issue.

I just updated my system today(May 27), then I ran CodeLite whose GUI is slow.
Suddenly, the screen went black.
I don't know if the updates or CodeLite affect the system.

I think it is the video driver caused the problem. The Appearance
Preferences->Visual Effects changed to NONE from NORMAL. When I checked
NORMAL, a message box appeared, showing "searching for driver", and the
screen went black again. Now I can't check NORMAL option any more.
