this is again GVFS having the camera open and then running a tool that does not
use gvfs to handle photo import,
like f-spot. "(unmounting really means gvfs unmount here, as the canons are no
mass storage)".
new canons are always supported, there is Generic PTP support in
libgphoto2.

Sorry for being so long. And sorry for bad english :)
I tried two "Canon powershot A710 IS", one "Canon EOS 1000D", one "Canon EOS
450", one "Lumix G1" and i don't remember for the others.
On the computer i am actually using, i just tried a Canon Powershot A710
IS.
On french and american
What makes and models are the cameras?
