Sound Problem Solved with use of front input jack (head phone) instead
of the rear sound jack on the Dell 400 Inspiron Zino HD.

I erased the Hard drive and re-installed both Kubuntu (Ubuntu) and
Microsoft Windows 7. Now my Kubuntu 10.04 does show the speakers and
the sound card, etc; but I still don't have sound yet. I am looking for
some hidden mute function; but so far I have not found it. Everything
else works great so
Partial solution found. I removed and re-installed the alsa sound system. I
then went to http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/modemident.php to get drivers
installed. I did not find an exact match; but I found a generic one to try. I
now have the sound card recognized and speakers; but still no soun
