Right, the copyright file is huge. I'll have a look.
about the js files, what about minifying all of them? I'm using google's
closure-compiler for my own projects, it seems quite reasonable. Maybe a
merge would be beneficial too.
I've packaged closure-compiler a while ago, it's sitting in my PPA:

btw, it's the same problem with the -l10n deb, i often get requests to have it
auto-installed (a Dep, it's a Suggests atm) but it's even bigger:

Can you point me at some of the bugs so I can check them out for myself?
And perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought that it was actually 3.7M when
actually installed.

I initially made it optional but upstream asked me to re-make it
mandatory due to the high number of bugs they received from users of the
Ubuntu builds (that was when it was only available in PPAs)
Most users complained about missing features in Chromium then moved to
Chrome.
