Yes, gnome-keyring-daemon asks for the keyring password - I've entered
my user password - then gwibber works as expected.
However, that's a strange behaviour - in Karmic, it wasn't necessary to
start any service manually.
How do we make sure that all necessary services are installed and
started p
start gnome-keyring-daemon from terminal and then start gwibber. I think it
should start

Are you sure the logs you are getting now i.e. after removing the
configuration files with the command as suggested in comment#2 are the
same as your prevous logs

Unfortunately, it has no effect :-(
This is very annoying, since I don't know any other workable twitter and
identi.ca client on Ubuntu desktop - I have to follow via web...

Have you tried to run a rm -fr ~/.cache/desktop-couch ~/.config/desktop-
couch and ~/.local/share/desktop-couch and then start gwibber again
