Can you reinstall mc completely as it seems that there's some problem
with custom bindings?
sudo apt-get remove --purge mc
sudo rm -rf /etc/mc
sudo apt-get install mc
If it doesn't help, can you quit mc, do an mv ~/.mc ~/.mc.old and then
try again?
