Agreed, the problem was solved by updates. I'm changing the status of
this to Fix Released since this problem was solved for everyone here.

My problem all of a sudden dissapeared after the upgrade this morning,
althoud the upgrade did not mention anything of this issue...

same problem for the dutch language pack after a fresh install of 10.04
if I go from system-administration-language suport and try to install, I get an

Same problem here, it looks like a dependency error, or some sort of
circular dependency problem to me.
In Synaptic, when I mark language-pack-gnome-en for upgrade, I get the
following error message:
language-pack-gnome-en:
Depends: language-pack-gnome-en-base (>=1:10.04+20100422) but
