I have the same problem in Ubuntu 10.10, evolution 2.30.3-ubuntu7.1, without
using evolution-mapi.
(The package is not installed.)
I tried sending both in HTML and plain formats, but the result was always mails
stuck in the outbox.
However, this only happens if I open the mail composer directly
This bug is still present on Ubuntu 10.10 RC.

I know that this is an Ubuntu site, but I'm having a similar problem.
I first noticed the problem described in the opening post when I grabbed
an email address from my Exchange Server address b
This bug still exists in Lucid.
I made few tries and the messages seems to get stuck if they have some kind of
accented character. If I remove this peculiar character the mail is sent
correctly.
