thanks Draycen DeCator i could solve the problem after i installed 'compiz'.

i too had problems with grub while upgrading to 'lucid'. i finally installed
without choosing any disk or partition for grub to load in and later installed
grub by 'sudo apt-get install grub'. it installed in the
Compiz is installed. Here is the screenshot of the metacity --replace. There
was no change in the firefox.

You should only need to install the 'compiz' package and everything it
depends on (if it isn't already installed on your system).

Did you try running 'metacity --replace' in a terminal? This command restarts
metacity, which may resolve the issue. If it isn't running at all, just running
'

As for the bar at the right of your screen, does anything show up when
you right-click any of the squares? In the second screenshot, I don't
know if the screenshot tool left out the window border or not. If there
is no title bar, then can you try running 'metacity --replace' to see if
the title bar

Drivers and see if there are any drivers for your graphics card? If
there is no proprietary driver that you need to install, or if you
already have it install
It was on default for "none." I attempted to put it to "normal" but Ubuntu
said that this could not be accomplished so it went back to "none."
