gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg wasn't installed on my system and I had the same
problem. However installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly got rid of the
issue.
(rhythmbox 0.13.1-0ubuntu5, Ubuntu 10.10 x86)

the issue for me.

the issue seems be when gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is used for mp3 decoding

I resolved this problem installing the package "gstreamer0.10-plugins-
ugly" and then put the musics in rhythmbox again

I see several occurrences of this:
[rb_shell_player_get_playing_song_duration] rb-shell-player.c:3363: Did

That may help track down the problem.
