I am having this issue in 2012 in Oneiric with an AMD cpu. What changes in the kernel cause these reboots? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572162 Title: Sudden reboot happens randomly

I have a sudden shutdown problem in 11.04. My MacBook 2,1 will not freeze; it'll just immediately shutdown. Occasionally, it will suddenly shutdown and immediately reboot. Often it has this problem when waking from suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

The cleanest workaround for this bug that I've found is to run the Maverick kernel that is now officially supported on Lucid. All you need to do is : sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-backport-maverick Official specs that documents this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/Specs/KernelM

I had my first reboot since setting nomodeset today. But in the last days I had some power-offs I think because of overheating. Some people say that the fan turns high right before the reboot, could the reboot maybe have to do something with overheating? -- Sudden reboot happens randomly on MacB
