For the record, it gets enabled in ./scripts/casper-
bottom/33enable_apport_crashes. As far as I remember, the installer team
requested it back then, to catch ubiquity crashes etc. during
installation. It's also rather useful for testing new hardware.

I had some concerns about the volume of apport-crashes that might come
from this being enabled but looking at the Launchpad database I only
found 6 apport-crash bug reports with "BOOT_IMAGE=/casper" in the
description so the volume of these does seem low. However, it'd be
