Still no print from "gedit" when logged in as USER but "gedit" prints correctly when logged in as ROOT. Is this a clue? As a single user maybe root is the way to solve problem but how do I transer all USER setting - EVOLUTION back up is OK but how can FIREFOX bookmarks be transferred? -- gedit

There are two problems: 1. The PDF generated by gedit (or perhaps gedit's PDF passed through the pdftopdf filter of CUPS) is broken, so that foomatic-rip cannot determine the number of pages via Ghostscript). 2. foomatic-rip does neither error out nor render anyway if it is not able to determine
