Bug confirmed on Ubuntu 7.10, gnome 2.20.1. Extremely annoying. Applies
to .jpg, not .JPG, nor when renamed back to .jpg! Having previously
"opened with" a .jpg (without renaming) makes no difference. The error

You mean that this is a different matter/bug? I don't think it.
About send a file triggering it, every jpg file trigger it, so, there's no
reason to send one.
Maybe the detection window must have an 'ignore this fyletipe forever' or
anythig different..

extension and file content could be considered good security by some,
and I'm not even sure I disagree :), but where's the mismatch between

Voila! I 've changed the languaje of my ubuntu, to see the bug in

This is not the same bug as 22115. The problem here is that the system
compares the 'header' filetype with the extension filetype. I'll send
you more information about this bug...

To begin: This bug seems to be spontaneous; I mean: some people have this bug
when try to open a .wmv, with contents identified as "asf", or with a file
without extension identified as some file type, or some other filetypes.
I mean that maybe you can open all your files without this problem; the
