I cannot open this document on Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx". I'm getting
the same error as in the original description. I'm also on i386.
Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686

Tested with a guest account, and the test file was thumbnailed and read
correctly there.
Below is gvfs-info on the file for the user that fails (nearly identical
with the output on a successful system, so I doubt that there is
anything useful there):

could you run gvfs-info on the file too? or try in a guest session? it
works correctly on a standard installation there

I downloaded the 2.30.0 source from gnome, and then did
./configure
make
sudo make install
I run the local build by double-clicking on a cbt file.
Below is output of the requested commands for my virtualbox system,
where evince haven't been changed:

could you run those commands:
- which evince
- ldd $(which evince)
- dpkg -l evince

I can't confirm the issue, double clicking on this example in nautilus
open it and displays the images correctly there on lucid

Architecture is i386. Tested installing lucid rc in virtualbox as well,
installed all updates but the problem persisted.

thank you for your bug report, it's weird because the ubuntu source has
no change and the comicsdocument option is enabled in the built and
shipped with the binary, what architecture do you use? could you add an
example there?
