I tried running the test-kernel.py file in the qa-regression-testing
package which seems to run fine with the latest code in the trunk,
modulo minor workarounds to run jobs as root from the trunk. So, I built
and installed a package just to make sure and I see the following line
in the output:

Oh right, I see why you're getting the permission denied error; you're
not working with an already local checkout of lp:qa-regression-testing.
Okay, I can confirm that that fixes the bzr export issue, but as you can
see above, that's not the issue I'm facing here.

Further to the point, I don't have any backtraces or errors running the
entire command in jobs/qa_regression.txt when I strip out test-cyrus-
sasl.py like so:

I am unable to reproduce the failure mode you see, but adding your patch
does not change anything, none of the tests are run.

When I try running the qa_regression_testing script as define in the
jobs file, I get:
