This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

I believe this may well be a duplicate of #558378
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/558378), i.e.
related to a bug in the ATI module. I experienced the exact same issue
on a Samsung R20 (same gfx card). The workaround in the report of
#558378, i.e. providing radeon.modeset=0 as
I try release of Ubuntu 10.04 on my Samsung r40 plus laptop and got the
same problem.

It´s getting TOO BAD! It is Release candidate already, and it still
DOESN´T BOOT! No one paid any attention. No solution. Release will not
be any usable for me. Good buy Ubuntu 10.04 then... I was really loking
forward to it. Too bad
