For me the bug vanished, userswitching works reliable now. I can not say
which updated fixed the situation however.

#4 by Anatol I deduce that this may not be an xserver-xorg-video-intel
driver bug, but maybe a kernel bug or xorg bug.

I have the same problem with beta2. Lucid is unusable if you have more
that 1 user on the computer.
