I am experiencing the same problem on a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 with ekiga 3.2.6. Like the original poster, I verified that Totem plays all the WAV files located in /usr/share/sounds/ekiga. I noticed ekiga can also play each of those files, but only if selected under 'ring tone' or 'busy to
