Just a note: if binutils-gold is installed, linking applications that
use libgsl and libgslcblas will result in an application which will fail
because libgslcblas is not corretly linked in. Details on how to
reproduce are here:

in maverick, binutils is now part of the binutils package, the binutils-
gold package only sets gold as the default
