Do you notice correlation as to what guest OS you have running?
Windows XP SP2 is in End of Life status. As well, Ubuntu & virtualbox-
ose have been updated. Please update and repost detailed error report.

I have exactly the same problem except that it is worse: the eject command
does not open the tray either, and it cannot be unmounted. No solution found
except turning off VirtualBox which is quite annnoying.
I would be very thankful to any person who thinks up a patch to remedy for this.
