I had the indicator applet showing on a panel, but also had no volume
control. Had to install indicator-sound, remove the indicator applet
from the panel and add it again. This was after upgrading from hardy.

Thanks for taking time to report this bug and help make ubuntu better. I
dont think there is a problem, please right click on the panel, click
'add to panel' search indicator applet and add it to your panel and you
will see your volume icon. Thanks
