You can use ceni - it is a gui acccessable in the command line or terminal.
It is a great wrapper script that has saved me dozens of times from
formatting my hard drive when I could no longer connect or update.

It is a must
and when i used ubuntu 10.04 beta knetworkmanager worked fine.

i confirm this bug. I also use bcmwl-kernel-source for my wireless card.
After boot my eth1(wireless card interface) not active. After comand
"ifconfig eth1 up" it work, but knetworkmanager don`t work. How i can to
connect to wi-fi network without knetworkmanager?

Broadcom Wifi Will Not Connec
As of today, the Broadcom STA driver works with my broadcom wifi - but
NetworkManager icon still does not appear.
I have to use root terminal to start NetworkManager, the error message
tells me that NetworkManager is already running and gives the PID of
that task.
Then I have to kill it using #ki
NetworkManager also doesn't show up in the top panel as it used to. It
will finally appear if you kill (pid #) about three or four times and
let it respawn. I can see wifi networks but all are WPA secured and I
have no password so I cannot connect.
I try
modprobe wl
And I do not get an error m
