The only thing I can think of is: this is a June 2009 MacBook Pro, with the battery probably completely drained. Since this model has a fixed battery, it may also feed the hardware clock. (Garh, part of my typing went into the wrong window again... For a while I thought the "disable touchpad whi

I tried recreating this using a current version of Lucid and adjust the system date to sometime in 2004. Then I used "hwclock --systohc" to set the hardware clock to the same time in the past. After a reboot and a filesystem check and another reboot I logged into my system and the date had change
