It would be preferred that you file a new bug, and reference this one in your
comments. You can use 'ubuntu-bug linux' in a terminal to file the bug. Often
these issues are caused by different issues for the hardware involved, and must
be fixed for the hardware itself. Thanks in advance
I have the same problem on my HP 6730b. when choosing "suspend", I have a dark
screen and disk activity (frontal led is not blinking to say that the computer
is in suspend mode). Moving the mouse make it shows a window to enter the
password. No external hard drives are connected nor SD cards.

The claimed fix via the sysfs parameter for mmc_core does not work for
me. See my comment at

@ullix:
Afaik the 2.6.32-20.29 kernel mentioned by Andreas will not make the problem go
away by itself. It will enable you to work around the problem by telling the
system to assume that the SD card will remain in the slot while it is
suspended. To tell the system this a parameter named removabl

Ullix, can you please test the 2.6.32-20.29 kernel from the repository

Bug 477106 looks like it is related regarding the freeze on suspend.
Comment #9 by Stefan Bader there is about an AOA110. The source of the
problem there are SD-cards.
