No problem! I'm glad you were able to get things working on your system.
As for playing the .wma files, you may want to try installing the
gstreamer0.10-plugins-* packages (-good, -bad, -ugly) and see if any of
those allow .wma playback (I'm not sure if they will, but doesn't hurt
to try).

I've managed to solve the problem to a certain extent-
1.) "ubuntu-restricted-extras" and "gstreamer0.10" uninstalled.
2.) System rebooted.
3.) "ubuntu-restricted-extras" and "gstreamer0.10" reinstalled.
All types of video and audio can play, except for any Windows Media (wmv, wma,
etc) files.
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Can you please confirm for us
whether or not you have the necessary gstreamer plugins installed to
play the files? The 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' package has most of the
necessary codecs for gstreamer, so you can install that package and try
again if you neve
