Couldn't reproduce the behaviour under Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome3,
Thunderbird 9.0 & Enigmail 1.3.4. Everything fine...

I experience exactly the same behaviour UNR and thunderbird 2.0.0.23
(20090817), enigmail 0.95.7 (20090112).
When I switch Desktop Mode to "Classic" instead of "Netbook" it works!
So maybe it has something to do with UNR trying to maximize the
passphrase window?! Accidentaly passing a CR???
