This is still happening for me with all the latest updates. It only
happens on the LCD panel when there is a screen connected to the VGA
port. The VGA output is fine. Are lspci outputs helpful?

Looks like I spoke to soon. The issue has now reappeared. I'm still
running the custom kernel, but my machine is now pending a reboot which
will switch it over to the later one that's just been pushed out in

I installed the new kernel from comment 6 on Friday and it appears to
have resolved the issue for me. The corruption generally took a while
to appear after starting X, but so far there's been no sign.

I get what looks like the same issue on my Lucid system, using an nvidia
GeForce 7600 GS, running the nvidia-glx-185 driver. It's a multi-
monitor setup using xinerama. Is this likely to be the same issue?
See attached screenshot.

We have recently pulled some PLL updates in for testing which may help
with this issue. Could you test the kernels at the URL below and report
back here. Kernels are here:

Hi NUt&tuX,
If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upst
Thanks, if the issue is resolved with an updated kernel, then that
suggests this was a bug in the drm that can be fixed with a kernel
patch, so retargeting to the kernel.

With the v2.6.34-rc1 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
, this issue seems to be fixed.
Anyway, if it can be fixed for the default lucid installation, it will be nice.
