This also affects the PowerPC port.
The workaround is to decline to try loading drivers from removable
media, then to accept the option to select loadable modules. At that
point the only offer (on the PPC) was "none". Select that and the next
dialog requests the device name of the CD-ROM drive.

Hit this while installing Lucid Server from today's build.
cdrom is an IDE Asus DRW2014L1 which operates correctly under 9.10 and
earlier.
