Found the bug today - but obviously someone was faster. After the using
the in-installer update, it works fine.
To me it looks like the problem was contained in the ubi-console-
setup.py script, where the variable self.current_layout was not set when
using keyboard-guessing. This seems to be fixed
Sorry but I can´t reproduce this, I´ve tried with my Spanish keyboard,
also I´ve tried updating and not updating ubiquity. I´m using the last
Ubuntu Lucid image (3/28/2010)

You probably mean Bug 521831 , which indeed fixes the problem (I tried
it with the daily CD you linked) that the installation will not have the
correct language at the end.
However, it does -not- fix the problem that the language will remain fixed to
US-Layout for the rest of the installation pro
Please try with the last Lucid image http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/ because I think that something similar was fixed.
